I've been writing, thinking and reading a lot about compassion recently. My working definition right now is to treat each person I interact with gently, and assume that they are doing the best they can.
I haven't written about my commute recently, but it's still a big factor in my life. It begins with a 1 1/2 mile trike ride to the station, two trains, and then a walk up from "Ground Zero" to my office at 199 Chambers. Lots of opportunities to practice moving through space. Lots of opportunities to be frustrated. This morning I realized that I also need to treat myself with compassion! This morning was all about how slowly I've been riding, and how awkward my walking is. Pause. Take a deep breath, and realize that I am doing the best I can.

Why three wheels? My name is Robin Brown. This is a picture of my "magic carpet." When I'm at work it's probably parked at the commuter rail station about a mile from my house. I get to ride three wheels because my right leg doesn't like to show up for work. I flunked riding two wheels. Archives
